Obagi Signature Facial & Dermaplaning in Cornwall

This signature facial treatment is designed to exfoliate, deeply cleanse and moisturise your skin leaving it feeling rejuvenated, radiant and looking beautiful and fresh. By using the Obagi Medical System we can offer a facial treatment using medical-grade ingredients in a professional, in-clinic procedure that far surpasses facials available in beauty salons and spas, to give your skin real improvement, whilst addressing minor skin imperfections and improving skin tone and texture.

After a consultation with Jai our skin specialist aesthetician, which will include a thorough review of your current skin health using our VISIA imaging system, your face with cleansed using a relaxing hot towel and the Obagi Medical Gentle Cleanser. This will be followed by the Obagi Medical Toner which will be applied over your whole face and allowed to dry.

At this point we introduce the Dermaplaning treatment to exfoliate your skin, removing the dead skin layer from the epidermis, as well as any deep dirt and debris, and any fine or vellus facial hairs, sometimes called ‘peach fuzz’. This will leave you with a smoother, cleaner and more receptive surface skin layer. This means that the remaining Obagi Medical products within the signature facial treatment can penetrate to optimum levels and achieve skin improvements. Vellus hair can often cause a build-up of sebum or natural oils and dirt within the tiny hair follicles, so removing these fine hairs will improve the overall health of your skin. Removing vellus hair will not make it grow back thicker or darker in colour so do not be concerned. The act of Dermaplaning alone can also have an improvement on skin tone and texture, as well as helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, mild pigmentation and scarring.

Dermaplaning is simple and safe and is not to be confused with dermabrasion which is an aggressive, surgical abrasion procedure. The Dermaplaning procedure removes the skin debris quickly and simply using a medical grade exfoliation tool which our practitioner moves across your face using light, feathering strokes.

Upon completion of the Dermaplane treatment, you can relax for 20 minutes under our Déesse LED mask and experience the warming sensation from the light therapy which uses different coloured Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to target differing skin concerns including skin ageing and acne. LED light is proven to aid and accelerate skin healing so helps the skin to repair and renew through the stimulation of new collagen and elastin which make up new skin cells.

The Obagi Medical Hydrate Facial Moisturiser is then applied to your entire face whilst you enjoy a mini face massage. Concluding the Obagi Signature Facial we will apply Obagi Medical Physical UV Sun Block SPF 32 to protect your newly treated skin from sun exposure when you leave the clinic.

The practitioner gently runs the scalpel across the skin is a feathering stroke to scrape off the debris, leaving skin smoother and brighter, plus more receptive for additional topical serums.

You will be advised on suitable aftercare products to use on your skin to optimise your results after your facial.

You will be advised to avoid sun exposure (including sun beds), if possible for 3 or 4 days, because the surface of your skin will be very sensitive to UV damage immediately after your treatment. You should wear a hat and a sunscreen of at least SPF30, reapplied often, when outside to reduce the risk of damage and pigmentation concerns post treatment. You should also avoid excessive heat from sources such as steam rooms and saunas for a minimum of three days post treatment.

Home use skincare products, including gentle cleansers, moisturises and topical serums will be recommended to optimise your results, and in some cases the Obagi Nu-Derm range can be prescribed by our nurse, Kerry, to suit your individual skin concerns.

Similarly, if you have used retinol-based products within the proceeding 5 days or have had a chemical peel within the last fortnight, you will be asked to delay treatment with the Obagi facial.

Prior to treatment, especially for the Dermaplane, you should avoid shaving, laser treatments, waxing, or aggressive exfoliation treatments to the skin to be treated for at least one week before your Obagi Signature Facial. It’s also advisable to wait a fortnight after dermal filler or botulinum toxin injections to the same area.
