AlumierMD Skin Peels

AlumierMD skin peels do exactly what the meaning of their name means – based on the word ‘illuminate’, they are designed to make your skin ‘clear and bright’.

Designed by biochemists, physicians and skincare experts, Alumier MD peeling products represent a new generation and thinking about chemical exfoliation. We can tailor these professional peel products to a treatment programme to suit your skin condition and concerns, including acne, hyperpigmentation, oily skin, anti-ageing etc., as each option comes with a unique set of complex ingredients formulated to optimal concentrations. AlumierMD professional peels offer a light to medium depth skin peel solution with minimum downtime. They can be used on the face, neck and décolletage.

As well as the in-clinic peeling treatment, our skin specialist can prescribe a bespoke programme of home-use skincare from the AlumierMD range to prepare and support your skin both before and after a professional peel. Following a consultation with our nurse, Kerry you will be able to find out which of the AlumierMD professional peels is right for you from the following options:

Vitamin A Boost
This peel is suitable for treating acne, hyperpigmentation and ageing. It combines pure retinol (vitamin A) and lactic acid into a potent resurfacing peel. Designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation concerns such as age spots or freckles. The resurfacing action will stimulate collagen products and healing will promote a more radiant and even skin tone. We recommend this for mature or sun-damaged skin.

Detox Clear
This peel is suitable for treating acne and congested skin. It contains salicylic acid and lactic acid which are great for deeper penetration into the pores to clear and exfoliate the skin. The salicylic acid goes deep into the pores, exfoliating dead skin cells and clearing excess sebum, or oils. The lactic acid, despite also exfoliating dead skin cells has a hydrating action as it draws water into the skin. As well as this combined exfoliating action, the Detox Clear also contains eucalyptus which has strong astringent characteristics which helps to tighten and close enlarged pores. We recommend this peel to reduce acne, minimise pore size, smooth the skin and prevent acne breakouts.

Radiant 20/10
This peel is suitable for treating acne, congestion, open pores, oily skin, uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. This is a multi-purpose resurfacing peel and contains a powerful mix of 20% lactic acid and 10% salicylic acid which improve the texture and tone of the skin by exfoliating dead cells and kick starting the turnover of new, healthy skin cells. We recommend this peel to reduce acne and minimise large pores, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, plus sun damaged or hyperpigmented skin.

Radiant 30
This peel is suitable for treating dull skin with an uneven tone, hyperpigmentation, plus lines and wrinkles as a light to medium depth solution. As an alpha hydroxy acid or AHA based resurfacing peel, it uses 30% lactic acid to remove dead skill cells and stimulate new collagen production. We recommend this multi-functional peel for targeting fine lines, wrinkles, skin discoloration and sun damage.

Glow Peel
This peel is the ultimate in advance peeling and the strongest peel in the AlumierMD range of professional peels, providing a medium depth peel. It is sometimes referred to as a half Jessner’s peel. It can be used on dry, dehydrated, normal and oily skin, for acne, hyperpigmentation and anti-ageing solutions. It combines lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol to create a multi-purpose resurfacing agent which can be used to even out skin one, minimise fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation including age spots, plus other skin discolouration. We can customise this Glow Peel to suit individual needs by changing the strength and how many layers we apply. This makes it a truly bespoke advanced skin peel option.

Following an AlumierMD peel you will be given a Post Procedure Prescription Kit (included in the cost) which contains a SensiCalm Cleanser, Recovery Balm and Sheer Hydration SPF40 sunscreen. A course of 4 to 6 peel treatments is recommended.

AlumierMD Peels Questions

  • What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel provides a form of exfoliation which is chemical by nature – a chemo-exfoliation – which is achieved by lowering the natural pH of the skin which loosens and dissolves connections between dead skin cells, thus eliminating and exfoliating them. This sluffing of the superficial layers of dead skin leaves behind younger skin cells and encourages the formation of yet more cells and new collagen growth. They can be used to improve fine lines and wrinkles, reduce uneven skin textures and imperfections such as hyperpigmentation or sun damaged age spots.

  • What are AlumierMD professional peels?

AlumierMD peels are based on the use of salicylic and lactic acids, alongside other ingredients including retinol (Vitamin A) and resorcinol (an antiseptic and disinfectant agent).

  • How do I know which AlumierMD peel is right for me?

The AlumierMD range of professional peels is based on a core of three types of acids and is designed to be customisable by the practitioner to suit the needs of individual patients. Your skin concerns and expectations for treatment will be thoroughly discussed in an initial consultation with our nurse Kerry, who will then pass you over to our advanced therapist, Jai to design a bespoke AlumierMD peel programme to suit you. Depending on the response from your skin to individual peel treatments, we can further customise the programme at each appointment to get the best results for you.

  • What happens during a chemical peel treatment?

Your skin will first be cleansed and prepped for treatment. The selected peel product is then applied using special brushes and left on the skin for a few minutes, depending on the type and strength of peel and the number of layers being applied. Whilst the peeling agent is on the skin you can expect to feel a tingling, tickling and mild heating sensation which will subside after a few minutes. Some peels will self-neutralise so can be left on the skin, rather than being removed before you leave the clinic.

  • Are there any side effects?

Side effects and recovery or downtime from skin peels will depend on the type and depth of product used. The AlumierMD peels have been designed to be effective whilst also being gentle and minimising the amount of trauma caused to the skin, with results continuing to develop over time.

Expect for your skin to feel warm and tingly, as well as look flushed or pink immediately after treatment – this should resolve in approximately 24 hours. Your skin may also feel dry and tight, much like as if you had a mild sunburn. You will be able to return to your normal activities immediately after treatment should you wish.

You may notice mild peeling or flaking of the upper layers of skin after about 3 or 4 days, lasting up to about a week. Not everyone experiences or sees visible peeling, so a lack of it, or how much peeling occurs does not reflect how well the peel is working. You must not pick, scratch, scrub or use other exfoliation products on your skin during this time as it could result in scarring. You will be advised to wear, and provided with, a sunscreen SPF40 product which you must put on every day for a minimum of two weeks after your peel treatment. This is to prevent a side effects called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation where dark patches of skin can appear if the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light whilst in the healing phase.

  • What is the aftercare?

After an AlumierMD peel you will be given a Post Procedure Prescription Kit (included in the cost) which contains a SensiCalm Cleanser, Recovery Balm and Sheer Hydration SPF40 sunscreen. If you have a course of treatments, as recommended, you will be given enough of the aftercare kit to last post all your treatment appointments.

It’s very important that you wear the sunscreen product provided daily and for at least a fortnight after your treatment to avoid potential side effects.

You should avoid using certain other products on your skin for at least a week after your peel procedure; these include retinol (Vitamin A), glycolic acid or other products used for exfoliation, both chemical or mechanical.

Ideally you need to wait for 24 hours after your peel treatment before recommencing wearing make-up, longer if you can manage it. During this initial time, also avoid having hot baths or showers or visiting saunas or steam rooms.

  • How long does it last?

The duration of results will depend on the specific AlumierMD peel programme used and the skin concerns that you are looking to address. Your lifestyle, including regular sun exposure, will be a factor in the longevity of any results from a chemical peel treatment. All your expectations and desires for treatment and the likely outcomes can be discussed in your consultation with our nurse, Kerry.

  • How much does it cost?

Prices for AlumierMD peels are £115 per treatment. Courses of treatment available.
