Profhilo is a stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) but without any chemical cross-linking agents – the first injectable of its kind ~ Dr Emma Ravichandran
Profhilo® is neither a dermal filler or a mesotherapy product. Instead, it is a specially formulated Hyaluronic Acid, a substance found in our bodies that is responsible for maintaining the moisture within our skin. It encourages our skin to produce more collagen (four different types in fact, which no filler has been known to do) and elastin across the skin, which creates a more rejuvenated appearance. As our bodies produce it naturally to hydrate the skin, it's best for clients who have tired, dull, and ageing skin.
When we reach 30 we all should start to consider how we could go about preserving the youthful, rejuvenated skin we have become accustomed too. After 30 years old, our skin will start to lose a significant amount of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid. Profhilo® is therefore great for clients aged 30 and above, who wish to target ageing skin. The treatment normally lasts up to 6 months, depending on the individuals' skin type.
This Treatment:
- Includes no synthetic chemicals.
- Boosts the production of collagen.
- Profhilo is injected just below the skin’s surface in two sessions over a period of 4 weeks, and disperses quickly across the skin to instantly boost hydration, consequently smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, to produce an overall improved skin texture.
NOTE: Profhilo is not a dermal filler and therefore does not create the volumetric lift or volume associated with dermal fillers. However, it does create volume in the tissue where needed, due to its high spreadability. This makes it the ideal treatment for challenging areas, such as the neck, perioral area (around the mouth), hands and arms. In these area's you do not see the significant volume loss, but skin has lost elasticity.
As with any injectable treatment, there are minor risks. These include; bruising, swelling, infection, allergic reaction, as well as vascular compromise and nerve damage; although IBSA claims that vascular and nerve damage are very rare.
Treatment cost: £500 for a set of 2 treatments which we would spread out over 8 weeks, with one being 4 weeks after the first treatment.
